Craftine box : the autumn box has arrived !

The new autumn box is here! A box which asserts itself, which wants to stand out and surf on a wave of timeless fashion which evolves but stays present through the years : the rock look. This timeless look remains ever-stylish; adopted by the stars and the common mortals alike, the rock style allows you to stand up, stand out and assert your desire for freedom. In a classic rock style or else a romantic rock style, the contents of this box will offer you several ways to create your autumn wardrobe just to suit you. It’s up to you to select your style, adapt it, mix it up and have fun with it !

This is what you’ll find inside the Craftine autumn sewing box :

The faux suede scuba fabric is very soft and supple. It has a good weight and is slightly stretchy which makes it lovely to wear.
The printed cotton fabric has a design reminiscent of leopard spots, a classic feature of the feminine rock wardrobe.
You’ll find advice for sewing and caring for these fabrics at the end of the article.
What can we say about the colour yellow ? If there is one unmissable colour this autumn, it’s yellow. In all its shades, yellow is definitely going to brighten up our winter.

Our sewing suggestions for the contents :

As ever, we are offering 2 brand new sewing patterns to be used with the contents of the autumn box : the Coco biker jacket pattern and the Kaki skirt pattern. We also have styling advice on how to wear and accessorize these pieces to be bang on trend.

Suggestion #1 : She rocks

The Coco biker jacket is the emblematic item of the rock look. If there could be only one piece of clothing it would be the biker jacket ! Fastened with a zip, this jacket has a  a number of shaped panels for a great fit. On the outside it is finished with stylish top stitching and on the inside it is finished with a contrasting bias edging, this biker jacket also has a side tabs and belt loops at the waist for a classic biker jacket look.
Styling tips : Wear it with black skinnies, a band tee shirt and a pair of Oxford lace-ups, it’s a great rock-chick look which will suit everybody.

Suggestion #2 : Sixties romance

The Kaki skirt belongs to the rock romance trend and reminds us of the style of Françoise Hardy or even Brigitte Bardot. A chic and feminine A-line skirt, it has a front zip and 2 top stitched patch pockets.
Styling tips: Wear it with an oversized roll-neck sweater, opaque tights and ankle boots for a sixties vibe which will suit everybody. Wear it with a cream roll neck sweater, opaque tights and ankle boots for a romantic sixties look which will suit all shapes. You could also add a cream or black saddle bag, which is very much on trend this season.
For your hair we suggest a scarf tied casually around a ponytail.

Tutorial to make the scarf

You can find the tutorial to make the scarf here.
We also show you how to knot it to wear it as a headband.

Sewing and caring for your fabrics

Prewashing :
We advise prewashing the printed cotton fabric at 30°C to avoid any risk of subsequent shrinkage.
You don’t need to prewash the suede-like fabric as it doesn’t shrink.
Fabric care :
It is fine to machine wash the faux suede fabric as long as you use a cold wash programme for delicates.
To remove marks from the fabric, you can sprinkle on some talcum powder or bicarbonate of soda. Leave it to absorb the stain then brush it off gently.
Sewing :
The faux suede scuba can be sewn with a standard needle and a straight stitch. Use very fine needles to pin it without damaging it. This fabric has the advantage of not fraying so doesn’t require finishing with an overlock or zigzag stitch.
